Red Colombian Sky

SYNOPSIS:

An existential view of revolution from a woman's perspective in which the audience witnesses the last night between a young soldier and the general's concubine.  Set in the midst of the fall of Bogotá, Marina, who represents both lover and mother, seduces a young counter-revolutionary, Lucas, to gain intelligence for her capture, the general.  Yet both are doomed.  In the process, they find their lives finally fulfilled in a fleeting moment of love.  Ricardo Montalbán Repertory Theatre Company (RMRTC) is a new branch of Ricardo Montalbán Foundation. Founded by Nosotros ' 1st Vice President, Felipe Alejandro and member David Llauger- Meiselman , under the auspices of Artistic Director Margarita Cannon and foundation board member Gil Smith, RMRTC is dedicated to the American Latino experience. Our inaugural season opens with Love, Lies, and Revolution a production comprised of two one- acts, The Wafer by Arthur Meiselman , and Red Colombian Sky by Katrina Elias .  This mixture of new and established playwrights exemplifies our commitment to daring and challenging works and the development of Latino talent. Cast:

ESTRELLA TAMEZ (Marina character of Red Colombian Sky) was born in Los Angeles and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  After graduating from New Mexico State University with a B.A. in Criminal Justice she returned to Los Angeles to pursue acting when she realized her passion was in the arts, and not in law, and has been acting ever since. 

After moving back to Los Angeles in 1995, she hit the ground running.  With only a dream, and no contacts, she made her way to Nosotros Theatre.  In 1996 she co-starred in her first play in Hollywood with the Nosotros Theatre Group in the original play Sculptors directed by Julia Vera.  The following year, Estrella co-starred with Jacob Vargas in a short film entitled Sex Drunk , where she played the role of a wife struggling with the effects of an alcoholic husband and an abusive relationship. check out www.estrellatamez.com

MICHAEL KOURS (Lucas characrter of Red Colombian Sky) was born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts. Performing since childhood, he would often travel to New York City for classes and auditions. At the age of 18, he was accepted to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and afterwards continued his education with Jackie Bartone, focusing on Meisner Technique. While living in New York he actively pursued theatrical auditions and landed many principle roles.
